Article writing contest: Hubpages v Triond. Which is best?

Triond and Hubpages are two websites where you can publish your articles online and make some extra cash.  In this article I will compare the two sites side by side using various factors (page views, article layout, processing speed, search engine listings and earnings).

Page Views.

The amount of traffic I receive from Triond and Hubpages are both pretty similar. Initially, I probably receive more traffic on Triond than Hubpages for article, but over a longer period of time Hubpages probably perform slightly better than Triond. This is probably due to the fact that Hubpages ranks higher than Triond in the eyes of the major search engines.

Article Layout.

If you are not just in it in for money then you have to consider how each site lays out your article.  Triond will insert lots of adverts within your article, which can make your articles much harder to read than on Hubpages. My mathematical articles that I’ve published on Triond have had many readability errors, mainly due to tables and formulas being spread out across two lines instead of one to make room for their advertisements. With hupbages you can control where you want your text and photo’s much easier than on Triond.

Speed of articles being published.

Hubpages will publish your article straight away, but they will remove the article from their pages if you have broke any of their terms and conditions (such as prohibited cnontent). With triond you will have to wait a little longer for your articles to be published - sometimes in matter of hours up to 2 days! Triond will notify you be email if your article fails to get published, and you will then be given the chance to edit your article. About 1 in 5 articles of mine get turned away from Triond due to grammatical error. If this happens to you then I would publish your article on another writing site, because if you resubmit them to Triond it often gets turned down for a second time.

Listing on Google and other search engines.

I usually find that listing on Google is much quicker with Triond than Hubpages. Most of my articles get listed on Google without submitting them myself. Also, all of my articles with Triond get listed on Google whereas with Hubpages not all of my articles get listed there. It will take a little longer for Yahoo and Bing to pick up your articles. Most of your traffic will come from Google in the long term so you have to hope your article gets listed on their search engine!

Earnings.

With Hubpages there are multiple ways you can earn cash from your articles, the main one being Google Adsense. If somebody clicks on an advert on your hubpage you will receive some money for that click. Hubpages will only show your Adsense adverts 5o% of the time, and show their own adverts for the rest of the time.  The amount of money you will receive from each click will vary on the topic of your article. Also, with Hubpages you can add Amazon and Ebay modules and Kontera inline ads. I have yet to make a sale with Amazon or Ebay, but I will keep trying these out on my hubs. My earnings with Kontera have been much lower than Adsense, and I am considering taking these ads down. Hubpages will not pay you directly, as you will receive your money from Google Adsense and the other networks you associate yourself with.

Triond will pay you a fee based on page views, plus the option from earning from Adsense as well.  I have not turned on the Adsense on my articles yet with Triond as I don’t want my Triond earnings to drop. I tend to earn around 1 cent for around 5 page views on Triond, but this will vary due to the content. Therefore, I would need around 500 page views to make a dollar on Triond. Most of my Triond articles are science based, and will get published on their Scienceray website. Again, depending on your topic you are writing about will determine how much money you can make on Triond.

Conclusion

Both sites offer a great opportunity to earn some extra cash. The best advice I can give is to sign up for both sites and see which site works best for you. Personally, I prefer Hubpages slightly more than Triond, but I will continue to publish articles to both sites. Triond and Hupbages both give you an easy opportunity to make some extra cash and are free to join.

The Triond Experiment 17 months ago

I recently discovered Triond and I published an experimental article I called How Much Will This Article Earn? and got 5,000 views in one week! It was fun so I decided to write more in the future. I think we just have to promote it well in order for us to get views. Sometimes I just post the article to my facebook account and get atleast 200 a day from it. Twitter is also a good source of views.

Keep on writing! Goodluck!

Triond is better

Prior to reading this article I had never heard of Triond so will have to go and have a look. I have used both Squidoo and Hubpages in the past and they are good points to start creating a web presence . In the end though if you are a serious internet marketer you are going to have invest some hard cash in websites, pay per click and auto responder software. However if you are completely new to marketing on the web this is a good place to start.

I just didn't like the neighbourhood in Triond, there were too many spammers. I don't know how they get their articles approved.

Hubpages looks cleaner. Or I am more lucky :)

Triond didn't like my first article. Not sure what I did wrong. It just wasn't up to their quality standard, but they don't bother explaining what their standard is. Oh well. Don't know if I'll waste my time there. I've never been accused of writing low quality hubs. [Knock on wood]

I prefer Triond. I would like to copy, delete and paste all my articles from Hubpages to Triond. Heck, I want to copy, delete and paste my Squidoo pages to Triond. They are a bit friendlier to Illinois residents who are out in the cold due to no Amazon affiliation.

i think hubpages is better as they give better linking capabilities. In Triond i found it hard to link to my site http://kidney-diet.org and also had to choose a thumbnail that did not make sense. Thanks for the info just the same!
